Why Join the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers?
We have great resources!
The club has a large membership of experienced local
enthusiasts who share their knowledge of the night sky,
telescopes and the best viewing conditions & places in and
around San Francisco. There are lots of
events every month
where you can mix with other members, ask all the
questions you want and share and learn from each other. We
also have a member newsletter that keeps our club members
connected and up to date and when you join the SFAA you
become part of the NightSkyNetwork which connects you with
clubs across the country.
Access special viewing sites:
The club organizes viewings for members in locations or at
times that are not available to the general public.
Hear the most up to date science from professional astronomers:
We are lucky enough to have access to leading scientists,
physicists and professional astronomers who speak regularly
at our monthly General Meetings.
Telescope Help:
Not sure which telescope to buy? The club can organize
‘loner’ scopes so you get to test several to find what suits
you best.
